Summary

From 2006 - 2009 Mowalla designed and produced Bud Bowl, a two day music experience celebrating Anheuser-Busch InBev's rich history in sports and entertainment.  Part festival and part marketing execution, the Bud Bowl events served as the crown jewels of the AB - InBev Super Bowl marketplace activations.

Instead of catering to the thousands of out-of-towners who inundate the Super Bowl marketplaces each year, AB-InBev preferred to cater to the local consumers.  In this way they were able to reinforce their loyal base in each market while still throwing a high-profile event.  On and off-premise promotions, along with radio giveaways, ran in the months leading up to the Super Bowl, encourage strong local participation in the festivities.

Line Up

Mowalla secured and advanced national acts that included Kid Rock, Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Buffet, Paul Oakenfold, Paulina Rubio, Three Doors Down, Staind, and “America’s Best DJ” Roonie G.

Run of Show

Each year Mowalla was tasked with designing an experience to heighten consumer awareness of the Budweiser and Bud Light brands in the Super Bowl marketplaces.  Whether it was throwing a concert in the abandoned Old Tiger Stadium, building a club in the middle of a Scottsdale street, or recreating St. John's Pass in a downtown Tampa parking lot, Mowalla's unique vision was able to live up to the Budweiser family name and present consumers with exciting and memorable experiences.

It was not always easy.  Throughout the years Mowalla met many logistical challenges when building an event site the size of Bud Bowl.  Be it negotiations with Homeland Security, the US Coast Guard, and the FAA or simply arranging for the use of historic sites through city council, Mowalla was able to traverse the rocky processes of municipal administration and event development.
