RedMoon Rising
RedMoon’s Festival J.O.E. is only a week away and we are getting seriously excited. This is your official reminder to get your tickets to see the first American appearance of the Architects of Air’s Luminarium before they sell out. Bands courtesy of The Metro, and an evening spectacle performance by RedMoon round out the entertainment line-up. This all ages event happens Labor Day Weekend, so pack up the Family Truckster and head down to Belmont Harbor for an ephemeras and cultural experience not to be missed.
Redo it, Danno?
The television industry continues its efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle old creative content, making this fall’s lineup look eerily familiar, especially to those from the X and Boomer gens. It’s pretty clear that their vintage re-dux strategy is aimed at younger folk- the ones who haven't experienced the past or those that have muted, but fond memories of their parents talking about it.
Mowallapalooza!
This weekend, The Lollapalooza Festival descends on Chicago’s Grant Park. In honor of one of the best music festivals in the country (in arguably one of the most beautiful US city parks), Mowalla presents the five 2010 Lollapalooza bands that have also played Mowalla shows:
The Black Keys- Never in my life have I heard so much beautiful noise come out of two modest dudes on stage with a couple peddles. And, they are seriously nice dudes.
Howdy, Neighbors.
The passing of the Summer Equinox means only one thing to us Chicagoans: get out and enjoy as much warm weather and as you can. With this in mind, we decided to celebrate with an al fresco happy hour in the hood. Mowalla was joined by our next door neighbors, Green Home Chicago Design Center. Together, we sampled some of the best craft brews and artisan cheese in the world at The Publican, a Fulton Market hotspot.
Horsepower
Greetings from the left coast. It’s been a minute since Mowalla’s other half has chimed in from San Diego, but we are back in action fresh off our week long experience with the Budweiser Clydesdales at the MLB All-Star Game in Anaheim, CA (no, we did not man the shovels while we were there).
Cool Music for a Good Cause
It seems that the amazing Chicago weather has had an effect on Mowalla’s good nature this summer. We are working on projects outside our usual realm- dipping our toes in the philanthropy pool, if you will. Beyond our continued partnership with RedMoon.org for their upcoming Festival J.O.E. this Labor Day, we’ve been playing doctor assisting Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital with their event, Cool Music on a Hot Summer Night, happening next Saturday, July 17, 2010.
Comfort Zones and Creative Zones
Today I want to talk about comfort zones…and how good it is to step out of them. I apologize for missing blog Friday last week and will do my best to make it up with this post. You see, we were doing some extensive traveling last week. With so much to take in and many places to visit, I couldn’t find time to organize my thoughts. Finally, on this Monday, I can recap our travels with you and share some photos from out adventure.
Taking One for the Team
As I write this blog, I’m the only one in the Chicago office. It’s not often that the home team wins a championship like the Stanley Cup, and in Chicago it’s actually been about 49 years. In the spirit of team, I’ve decided to take the proverbial one and let the crew attend Chicago’s Blackhawks Parade, while I man the phones. I say this with no cynicism because I’m from Arizona. Having grown up without hockey (and having just watched my beloved Suns lose the Western Conference Finals), I’ve been out of the Stanley Cup loop.
If you can dream it…It’s on Google.
This week’s blog is about the universe, somehow, providing what you need…usually through that little search engine that we all know and love. It’s been a busy couple of days here at the Mowalla homestead in Chicago, we’ve been prepping for some heavy client meetings and have been pressed to come up with some creative solutions for complex problems (standard stuff for us really, but it seems when it rains it pours). I digress…
